X-rays are a primary tool for early identification of dental problems. Detecting issues with x-rays before they become problematic can save you money in the long run. Early detection can help prevent the need for more extensive, expensive procedures or surgeries. X-rays are primarily used to detect:
At Edward I. Jutkowitz, D.M.D., P.C. - Periodontics and Implantology, we use digital x-rays, which have several advantages over traditional film based x-rays. Digital x-rays allow us to take x-rays with 1/5 of the radiation that you would receive from traditional dental x-rays. The worry of exposure to excess radiation is eliminated.
Large on-screen x-rays make patient communication more effective. The immediate observation of the images on the screen allows us to discuss your dental health quickly and accurately.
3D Cone beam
Our surgical center features the latest state-of-the art technology, including 3D imaging and digital impressions. Our 3D cone beam imaging system allows us to support a high level of patient care, as this system offers 3D computer-generated scans in order to provide a detailed and advanced look at the teeth, nerves, bone and tissues, with cross-sectional and 3D views. This provides critical information that won't be available with a traditional "flat" dental x-ray.
Our 3D imaging technology will allow us to provide you with a much more comprehensive evaluation and consultation, at which time our surgeons will:
X-Guide: Dynamic 3D Navigation for Dental Implants
Here at Edward I. Jutkowitz, D.M.D., P.C. - Periodontics and Implantology in Roslyn Heights, NY we want all of our patients to have the best experience possible. For this reason, we adopt proven dental technology to simplify complex procedures and processes—giving our patients a better experience and providing a better result. The X-Guide dynamic 3D navigation system gives us a real advantage when we are performing dental implant placement surgery, allowing us to place implants with high accuracy and stellar success rates.
Before the X-Guide, dental implant placement was carefully planned using various technologies such as cone beam 3D imaging systems. Once a plan was developed for implant location and placement, the clinician would surgically place the implant according to the plan. However, as with any surgery, there exists the possibility for some variation between the perfect placement and the actual placement. While this current process almost always yields excellent results, X-Guide allows clinicians to do an even better job with accuracy and placement by giving real-time feedback during the surgery. To be clear, X-Guide does not replace technologies such as cone beams, but it compliments them to give the clinician even more technology options to further improve patient outcomes.
Implant Placement Using The X-Guide
The X-Guide works in unison with cone beam 3D imagery to give us a live video overlay not only of your jaw, bone, and teeth but our drilling tools in relation to them. The X-Guide shows us the exact angle, depth, and placement of every action we take in your mouth in real time. This gives us the ability to precisely control the placement of every implant procedure we perform.
Implant placement outcomes are better with the X-Guide, giving us a higher implant success rate, and happier patients. Even the recovery process can potentially benefit from the X-Guide system. Patients who have implants placed using the X-Guide system may in some cases achieve faster and smoother recovery results than those who have no surgical guide.
