Call Us If Your Dental Veneer Becomes Loose

Some people are self-conscious about the way their mouth looks. They aren’t happy with their natural smile, or they want to whiten their teeth. That’s why patients choose to get a dental veneer placed on their teeth. A dental veneer can be great for improving your smile, covering up gaps between teeth, and to correct chipped or worn teeth. Getting a veneer can be a great way to improve teeth, but it’s important to take precaution in case a problem arises.

Reasons A Dental Veneer Can Become Loose

If the veneer isn’t used delicately while inside the mouth, it can become loose and fall off. After a while, regular everyday wear and tear can cause veneers to become damaged and dislocated. Sometimes a veneer can become loose just from getting old. Dental veneers usually last from 7-15 years, so you don’t have anything to worry about. Patients that take prescription drugs should be very careful because it can increase the chance of getting dry mouth or dental decay.

Ways to Prevent Dental Veneers from Becoming Loose

It’s important to take very good care of your mouth at home. Make sure you’re not brushing too hard and using the right toothpaste to prevent damage. Always use a soft toothbrush because hard-bristled brushes can cause the polish on the veneers to become damaged. You should make sure to brush your teeth twice a day and floss once a day. You can eat regular foods, but it’s recommended not to crunch or bite into items such as ice or hard candy. It is also advised to avoid chewing on hard objects such as ice, fingernails, pencils, and pens. It can cause the veneers to chip or get damaged.

After you get a veneer installed in your mouth, make sure to continue your regularly scheduled appointments every six months at our dental office. If a new veneer continues to give you issues, give us a call and set up an appointment to see how we can help you. It’s important to get the problem fixed as soon as possible.
