Reasons Why Gums Begin to Bleed When You Have Early Stage Gum Disease
When you have the early stages of gum disease, you may not notice a lot of the symptoms that typically come on later on in the disease. However, one of the biggest and the earliest warning signs that can be noticed are bleeding gums.
This is an issue that you need to tend to as soon as you notice the problem. That way, you can strengthen the gum’s connection to the teeth as much as possible.
Why Are Your Gums Bleeding?
The bacteria that is built up in the gums and around the teeth can cause the gums to become less than healthy, it can irritate the gums, and even cause discomfort in these areas. This causes the gums to inflame and become swollen, red, and even bleed when they are brushed or flossed. This is something that becomes worrisome when a lot of blood is seen on your brush. However, you don’t want to stop brushing or flossing when this happens. This can make the plaque worse.
Gum disease, when it continues to become worse, can even cause you to lose your teeth with time. You don’t want this to happen. The bleeding is the first step, but it is not something that cannot be reversed when you take the time to care for your overall oral health. However, left untreated, it gets to the point of no longer being reversible.
