What Do You Get Out of Flossing?

Have you ever wondered why it is so very important to floss? After all, you scrape some stuff off of your teeth, but they really do not look any different. The truth is, you get a lot out of flossing. That stuff you scrape off of your teeth can damage your teeth, your gums, and even harm the overall health of your body. If you forget to floss, or find excuses to do it as little as possible, you could be harming your whole body. Here is a breakdown of why it is so very important to floss.

Flossing Rids Your Mouth of Many Types of Bacteria

Each time you floss, you do several things. First, you remove plaque from your teeth, which can lead to problems like cavities and tooth loss if it was left there. Second, you clean the areas around your gums. If that was left against your gums, it could lead to gum disease and the many health problems that can cause.

Third, you pull bacteria off the surface of your teeth that would otherwise potentially find a home in your body. That’s right, that bacteria could move around to different parts of your body and potentially make you sick.

It may seem like flossing is no big deal to you, but it has a huge impact on your health. Not only do you improve your oral health to some degree when you floss, but you also reduce the risk of overall health problems when you do it. Make time to do it each day. It only takes a few minutes, but has a huge impact. If you are not sure you are doing it properly, then ask us. Let us know what parts of it you struggle with, and we can show you how to give your mouth the best possible flossing care.
